So, in honor of RUMI, let me share. 🍭 🕯️

Here are 3 things I have found useful, interesting & powerful this week…

DIVE IN.

  1. To plan or not to plan, that is the question!

Should I be the master of my yoga classes, mapping out every pose and sequence in advance? Or should I embrace the chaos, surrendering to the whims of the universe and teaching in the moment? As a student, you probably don't care where the sequence comes from. You just want to get a good sweat in, receive some yummy hands-on assists, and have the option to take breaks when needed (insert random child’s pose instead of handstand). You're probably happy with whatever your yoga teacher decides to do. But as a teacher, it can be interesting to compare the experience of leading a pre-planned class versus improvising based on intuition. Personally, I like a bit of both. However, this week I decided to plan out the class in advance using my yoga class journal, and it was a lot of fun! Having a plan allows me to take you to new places that I might not have if I was only responding to your requests and the students who show up.

  2. Woman who give each-other (and themselves) permission to take up more space provide a sense of safety and liberation that is contagious.

I led an online yoga class this week for a small group of women. Our intent was to “use the yoga practice to ground into their bodies and breath. A rather simple intent, but as we began to move I recognized the depth of this intention. I realized women need permission internally and often externally to simply take up space and inhabit their bodies. Heartbreaking and true. It was absolutely beautiful to witness my own energy gently expand and the women lean into the invitation to exist within their feminine bodies. After class, there was a warm and knowing smile we all shared. A smile that said, yes we are here, we are meant to be here. In encouraging one another, as women to stand up straight, breathe deeper and take up space, we create an energetic revolution that creates a ripple effect. A whisper that says, welcome sister, let us rise sister. Their infectious feminine Spirit sparks a revolution of self-love and embodiment. They've created a safe haven where simply being relaxed in yourself is seen as an act of rebellion. So women, breathe deeply and take up space….your mothers, sisters & daughters will appreciate you for it.

  3. Movies can be f*cking powerful for dropping you into your Heart.

My partner and I love watching movies and share the desire for movies to be GOOD. You might ask… makes a good movie though? For me, it is the realness in the humanity where resonance and Beauty unfolds. When the actor speaks a line that speaks to your heart and provides you with a sense of inner knowing. A knowing that says, I am definitely NOT alone…somehow the line that this famous person whom I DO NOT KNOW…gets it. (Thank you Tom Hanks, for seeing me.)

How beautiful is that? I encourage you to explore movies that can touch your heart. May i recommend..

"The Holdovers” for wholesome “drop you into your heart” vibes. I found myself watching this movie feeling a sense of warmth in witnessing the combination of absurd humor and emotional depth. Seeing the older professor and the temperamental teenage boy connect had my heart swelling with tenderness and warmth.

SO anyway, get your organic dark chocolate or your over buttered popcorn and dive in…there is great medicine in heart opening films.

Thanks for coming along this far.

I appreciate you.

Remember to take time to slow down, breath deeply & love on you.

Until next time,

Stay alive inside. 💘
