The power of honesty + a Yoga Nidra practice.

To my dearest student, beloved friend, & fellow human… 🌊 🕯️

Welcome to this space in which I will share my heart felt thoughts, yoga tips of this week + anything else I have been exploring.

Take few deep breaths, slow down your day and dive in with me. 🌊

Bridge over a green waterfall

AND in case you didn’t take those deep breaths. Let us do that now.

Exhale everything out. Inhale, fill belly, chest, ribs.

Exhale slowly. Feel your hips and legs relax into your seat.

Inhale into your heart and check in…

Maybe place your hand on your heart to have somatic connection there.

What is on your heart this week? 🫀

What is alive inside? ✨

(repeat as needed)

ON HONESTY

How many times in the past week has someone asked you…

“how are you?”

And how many times in the past week have you responded…

GOOD! GREAT! FINE! AWESOME!

When you really meant something else?

Like…I am actually f*cking exhausted.

Or my heart f*cking hurts.

Or if i answer that I will throw up, there will be tears and possibly gremlins.

Or whatever actual experience is going on beneath your skin.

Have you ever got curious about why we respond this habitual way?

A good way to begin unwinding this pattern is to be honest with yourself about what is true inside.

When you tune into your body, your heart, your brain, practice being honest with yourself about what you feel and sense.

THEN get brave enough to speak the Truth to others. Especially if it is your loved ones asking those “how are you” questions. Odds are they will be delighted and curious to hear more about what is actually alive inside of you. As a side benefit of your sharing, they actually might feel more permission to share their own authentic Truths with you.

The power of this level of honesty is that it provides a space where authentic connection can blossom. With yourself and with another. 🪷

Imagine if we responded untruthfully with the food we wanted.

Random friend: “Yo’ Kam, you want tomatoes?”

Kam: “YES, love tomatoes!”

*internally tightens with the awareness that I am allergic to tomatoes and will spend the dinner now picking off the tomatoes off my sandwich in hopes that nobody notices*

Silly when we think of it this way right?

And I totally get it!!!! As a recovering people pleaser myself, speaking my Truth (even when it is not agreeable) has taken some serious practice, yet has been vital for creating a life that my Heart is free within.

So my dearest, I encourage you to get brave, take a deep breath and answer these check-in questions whole heartedly. ❣️

One Truth at a time!
